Terms
BrandTags hosts and counts what visitors submit about brands. Almost nothing on this site is written by us, and none of it is a statement of fact.
1. Impartiality
BrandTags is an online intermediary. Almost everything you read here — every word in a crowd cloud, every archived tag, every comment — was written by a visitor, not by us. The views users express on this platform do not represent the views, values or voice of BrandTags or AI Rankia.
We size and order words by an automated count of how many different people submitted each one. The same rule runs on every brand, on complimentary and insulting words alike. We do not hand-pick words, we do not feature words, and we do not decide what a cloud means.
We take no position on whether anything a visitor says about a company is true. Nothing here is an assertion by us that any company, product or person has done anything.
Where a company disagrees with an opinion, we do not remove words because a company thinks they are unfair, unflattering or wrong. We act on the grounds in section 2, and where the law requires it.
2. Reporting content
Anyone can report content they believe is unlawful through our report page or at [email protected]. No account needed. We acknowledge within 2 working days and decide within 14, with reasons. If we act on something, we tell whoever submitted it why, and they can contest it.
We remove content that is unlawful, that targets a private individual, that is hate speech, or that we are legally required to remove.
3. How we moderate
Automated and human, in that order.
Before storing: a bot check, a per-browser rate limit, a filter blocking hate speech and slurs, and a filter that holds anything containing an email address, a phone-number pattern or three or more links. Held submissions are not published and wait for a person.
Before displaying: a word appears publicly only once at least three different people have submitted it independently. Below that it is stored and counted but not shown. To make "different people" mean something, each submission is recorded with a one-way hash of its network origin, its country and its device class — never the address itself — so a single source repeating itself can be told apart from real agreement.
Human: a person reviews what the automated rules hold and everything reported to us.
4. Payment changes nothing
AI Rankia sells brand-perception reports, including to companies that appear on this site. That relationship has no effect on public content in either direction. Buying a report will never change, reorder, hide or remove a word. Declining to buy one will never cause a word to appear, rise or stay. There is no paid tier that suppresses anything, because nothing here is suppressible by payment.
Any company can publish a response on its own brand page for free — see contact.
5. AI snapshots
We publish dated records of what a named AI model produced about a brand at a point in time. Model outputs can be inaccurate, biased or outdated, and a snapshot is evidence of what a model said — not evidence that what it said is true. Strength values shown next to model words are numbers the model assigned to its own output; they are not counts, measurements or survey results.
6. The 2009 archive
Some pages republish tags recovered from the original brandtags.net, captured around 2009. We publish it as a historical record of what that site displayed. We did not collect it, we have not verified any of it, and it is well over a decade old.
7. Brand and trademark material
BrandTags is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any brand on it. Names and marks identify the subject of the commentary and remain their owners' property.
8. Acceptable use
Do not automate submissions, evade rate limits, scrape personal data, probe infrastructure or interfere with moderation. Coordinated submission to push a word onto a brand page is abuse and we will remove it. Brand verification does not grant control over public results.
9. Applicable law
These terms and any dispute arising from use of this site are governed by the law of the operator's place of establishment, and the courts there have jurisdiction. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live. Written notice reaches us at [email protected] — see contact.
